A study in Diabetes Care showed that 51.3% of adults with type 2 diabetes and high cardiovascular risk experienced at least one increased lipase level over time and 29% had at least one elevated amylase level over time after receiving liraglutide for an average of 3.84 years, compared with 31.8% and 22.9% of those in the placebo group. Researchers used a cohort of 9,340 patients and found that 18 of those in the liraglutide group had a confirmed acute pancreatitis event, compared with 23 in the placebo group.
