Just before we hit November, the big National Diabetes Awareness Month, it"s worth taking a moment to look back on what this past month has brought us from the Diabetes Online Community (DOC). Despite today"s jack-o-lantern theme, the posts we"ve seen throughout October have served to inspire more than scare us.
So before you head out to your party or trick-or-treat fun, or turn on some scary Halloween flicks, be sure to check out some of the online treats we"ve picked for a spot in our DOC blogosphere goodie bag today. Enjoy!

How can we not mark the occasion of Back To The Future Day, on Oct. 21, 2015 (you know, the date in the trilogy where Marty McFly and Doc Brown travel to in the flying DeLorean?). Our D-blogging friend Kelly Kunik at Diabetesaliciousness puts a fun BTF spin on this post about the past, present and future of diabetes.
With Halloween just around the corner, we have to appreciate how many in our DOC are raising awareness beyond diabetes... including on food allergies. Type 1 blogger Christel Aprigliano over on The Perfect D blog offers valuable info on the Teal Pumpkin Project that we should all know about.
Fight for your Size 7 Shoes. That"s what Karen Graffeo is doing as she battles a new insurance company coverage change. Check out Karen"s brilliant post over at Bitter-Sweet Diabetes blog, as it could be useful for any insurer battles in your life.
The power of "Me Too" moments are almost wordless connectors in our D-Community, and this guest post over at SixUntilMe is one of those where an unnamed D-peep shares a reent scary hypo story. Of course, this person makes it clear they "Can Neither Confirm Nor Deny" what happened.
If you could appear before the FDA, what would you say? Don"t fear, Bennet Dunlap, a D-Dad who lives with type 2 himself, has a script on what he told the regulatory agency recently. Check that out over on Your Diabetes May Vary. Well done on the advocacy, Bennet!
Baseball and diabetes? Yes, they do go together, as Stephen Shaul shares over on his Happy Medium blog. And since this is World Series time in the baseball world, what a perfect fit for this month"s roundup!
We found a new blog called Little D written by D-Dad Matt, and his most recent post offers a great analogy about how diabetes management is like a 24/7 hamster wheel. Check out his post, The Innovative Mindset.
Happy 25 years of living with diabetes, George "Ninjabetic" Simmons! This month, George marks his quarter-century diaversary, so go wish him well!
The new animated movie Hotel Transylvania 2 rubbed some D-Parents the wrong way with how it talked about diabetes, and D-Mom Alicia at Sugar Stalking took to writing an Open Letter to Sony Pictures Animation; she"s has gotten 50+ comments from people in our community.
"Hello, We"ll Talk About Diabetes" is the title of this new find at SemiSweetT1D, a new find written by D-Mom Rachel Morgan who"s 3-year-old son Henry was diagnosed in March 2014. She just started blogging this past summer, and we think she"s worth a read with this post that has a look back at diabetes history as well as her family"s D-story!
Post-partum depression and type 1 diabetes... yep, it"s real. We commend Kelley at Below Seven for sharing this struggle she"s been having, and we send our best vibes and wishes her way.
D-blogger Ally at Very Light, No Sugar has a powerful post on Your Grandma"s Diabetes Vignette, where she reflects on a school conversation in 5th grade about a classmate"s grandmother.
Low blood sugars are scary, but Liz at Oh No, I"m Low shares a story about a recent night-time hypo from the POV of her husband during their Mexico vacation -- that blog post is The Rollercoaster He Didn"t Want to Ride.
Our friend Scott Strange over at Strangely Diabetic shares a post about Confessions, relating to his internal struggles with mental health issues.
Is Diabetes Your Best Friend? For Abby over at Photograbetic, the answer is definitely YES! She shares the reasons behind that, but it"s not only her best friend, as you"ll see...
Over at the Diabetic Journal, another type 1 friend Alyson Cheatham is just tired of life with diabetes. Many of us have probably felt that level of D-burnout before, so make sure to offer her some thoughts on managing through this tough time.
We share our favorites every month, but we want to include yours! Please send along your D-post picks for the month of November to us via email. We look forward to hearing from y"all.
